AE86 and Friends Northwest Meet
Bremerton Raceway-Bremerton, WA-January 20, 2001
Out on the autocross course, I think we all collected a cone or two, and many of us were hoping for a bit of sideways fun. The guys who ran in the morning (AJ and Rick) got a wet track, but most of us in the afternoon had higher grip as things dried out. Menace didn't have his car there, so he was hoping for some good drifting action to videotape, and I am not sure that anyone from the afternoon runs in the AE86 camp delivered...:/ The course had some fast sections for an autocross, and a couple of gymkhana-style 180-degree turns around a single cone in the middle of a huge paved area. Good course, and pretty well organized event, too.

Rick on course in the AM.

Aaron's cousin in the AW11.

And AJ...it's a good thing these guys ran in the morning so that those of us who were slower weren't too embarrassed in the afternoon!

Random Austin Mini out on the course.

Me out there doing my best.

Cutting it pretty close...think that right front tire could take any more load? :-)

Jason coming off the course after one of his runs.

Uh, yeah...we did have to start running with headlights for our last runs in the afternoon....here's Jason again.
My only regrets were that everyone's schedules were a little bit different, but I guess that can't be avoided with people coming from so far away, and the fact that the auto-x was crazy enough and crowded enough that we couldn't all park together. Thanks to Mattia for urging us all to do this thing! Most people had enough fun that we are talking about doing it again, possibly in the Puget Sound area again, or maybe up in Vancouver. The autocross was fun and we will do another one, but we were also discussing the possibility of an open track day! It sounds like some others like the idea, so I am very excited...Bremerton, Portland, perhaps in Seattle when the track re-opens....or do they ever have events at Mission? Those of you who couldn't make it...sorry we didn't get to see you there, hopefully you can all come to the next one.

Me, sitting pensive in the staging lane for my next run...ah well, at least I was warm! :-)
